Professor Eduardo Santana (in red in the photo) from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico gave a brilliant lecture at the UNU Media Studio on 16 August where he explained how universities can play a role in conserving the environment and in assisting local communities with their development.
The UNU Media Studio has been collaborating for about three years with Professor Santana and his colleagues at the Manantlán Institute of Ecology and Conservation of Biodiversity and we developed the Ayuquila River E-case study and video documentary together. So it was great that he could find time to visit Tokyo.
We plan to provide access to the video of his lecture in the next few days and we are sure you will agree that it was an very interesting lecture that explains how the Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere Reserve came into existence.
